The Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners supports 2nd Amendment-friendly non-profits, and so for the fourth year in a row did attend the Wistarburg Ruritan annual scholarship fundraising event this morning at Quinton Sportsmen's Club deep in the Pines of Salem Co. in South Jersey. CNJFO Trustees Jack Pyle and Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal were joined by CNJFO member Carmen Urso to form a 3-person squad. This Sporting Clay Shoot is held annually for sportsmen and women interested in supporting young people in their continuing education efforts. CNJFO set-up a welcoming membership booth at the event, handed out several brochures, accepted a new member today and more might be forthcoming.

Over the past few years, with help from CNJFO and all the other corporate sponsors and participants, more than $30,000.00 has been raised for the four annual scholarships. Wistarburg Ruritan hopes to continue this effort and possibly improve upon it.

The scholarships provide two thousand dollars ($2,000) each in aid to four students from the local community. Each year the Ruritan in Alloway Twp., NJ carefully review the academic records of deserving students and chooses the best possible scholars for the awards. Since the inception of the Sporting Clays fundraising event they have helped dozens of local students financially. All monies raised go directly to these scholarships, and CNJFO, New Jersey's busiest 2nd Amendment group, has been a sponsor for four years running.

The Clay Shoot:

16 stations were set up in a circular course. Most stations had six shots in "report pairs", and some were launched simultaneously (a "true pair"). Two stations had eight. The clays come into sight in various presentations & angles and in a variety of natural settings along a pine-wooded trail. The multi-acre course is a challenge and a lot of FUN. Teams of four or five circle the course for about two hours taking turns shooting, keeping score and launching the sporting clays. CNJFO fielded a 3-person squad as some of our Trustees were attending the Second Amendment Foundation's (virtual) Gun Rights Policy Council. So we did two events at once today!

An amazing continental breakfast of donuts, bakery-fresh Danish, coffee & tea awaited the shooters during registration. A 9:00 am "shotgun start" with each squad at a different station enabled a noontime lunch featuring delicious hoagies (sub sammich for you No. Jersey readers). A boxed lunch was provided to each shooter and prizes were awarded during lunch. Our Dave "Rosey" Rosenthal used his CZ Ringneck 20 gauge SxS, placing 4th & winning a prize!

As mainly a hunter, I had been concerned with the future of hunting but not as aware as I should have been of the depth of efforts to protect the sport when it comes to 2A activism.

Most all of us in the hunting community pride ourselves in our patriotism- there is no question about that. We hold each other accountable and to high standards of conduct.

What is also important is that as the "GUNS ARE BAD" message is increasingly pushed in NJ schools and in the media, many POTENTIAL NEW HUNTERS will go without ever shooting a bow or a firearm. They are our lost allies!

I am not talking just about kids, but also adults, people of any age. Not only men but also women. Pro 2a groups like CNJFO run shooting events and many of your local clubs also encourage and teach good sportsmanship, and promote safe and enjoyable shooting.

If our hunting community's voices are reduced by over legislation of firearms, there will be less defenders of hunting rights and lands and our numbers will dwindle and things will keep spiraling down!

There is a way to STOP the decline of hunting. We do this by saying "NO" to more senseless gun legislation aimed at the law-abiding gun owners like you & I. This is where groups like the Coalition of New Jersey Firearm Owners come in really handy. They're the only 2A group in NJ that actually runs hunts and gets "2A activism" on display to us hunters.

2A activism is what slows the tide. There are many who are devoting their time and personal resources to stop the rush of laws which could eventually stop you from taking a wife, husband, girlfriend or boyfriend shooting or hunting. I say it inclusively to all as women are an emerging force in the firearm owners community. It's so great hearing a young lady tell her boyfriend SHE took to the range 'to just shoot at his own target and she knows what she's doing"!

We need to realize that we all get a certain level of anxiety worrying about an unintended slip with transporting firearms etc. and running afoul of the law as we make our way to our hunting grounds. It can get worse. We don't need that stress in the morning, we need a coffee! Guess who fights ALL firearm transportation bills both at the state & federal level, including our hunting guns? That's right, 2nd Amendment activists!

We need to speak well of each other and to each other. We are IN THIS TOGETHER!

With more restrictive laws there will be less involved. Too much hassle. There will be less hunters and the anti hunting community will call all the shots. The new laws will easily flow- Hunting disallowed at preserves, increased distances to homes and roads etc. It can and is getting worse. So what do we Hunters DO?

Casually make others aware that hunters are good people, people they can rely on, people who do the right thing. That's what can change minds.

Below is some information related to the 2A struggle in NJ. Many thanks to those committing their selves to the effort:

CNJFO keeps you informed about critical pending legal cases. These cases have the potential to affect you directly as far as what kinds of firearms you can keep, whether you can bring those firearms outside of your home, and more.

For instance, there is a magazine ban challenge filed by ANJRPC, a carry outside the home case (Cheeseman), and a New York case, with the potential to impact New Jersey, in terms of transporting any firearms from your home to other places.

Talk it up with your hunting buddies. Make your friends aware this hunting season, that the better informed we are as a group, the more power we will have.

We’re all one team: no matter what your outdoor sport. Time is of the essence. As Hunter’s we have a VOICE. Let's USE IT!

TOY GUNS TRIGGER SNOWFLAKE TEACHERS TO CALL COPS!  ESCALATION ENSUES AS STASI DO "WELFARE CHECK" SEARCHES!

“How was school today honey?”…a normal enough question that probably gets asked millions of times across America daily. In a COVID-19 America, sometimes the answer is apparent, or maybe not. That of course depends on if a parent was approached with a fascist waiver to sign stating they will not “eavesdrop” on any virtual learning, as was the case in Tennessee this past August (https://www.foxnews.com/.../tennessee-parents-waiver...). What is becoming more and more prevalent, with schools coming into your home, they are now asking you to remove your home from their “classroom.” For one unnamed sixth-grader from Edgewater, NJ, the answer of the “How was school today honey?” question was answered with knocks at the door by the police.

As reported by “The Shore News Network”:

“Police were called and an online Zoom meeting was put into virtual lockdown in New Jersey after a teacher spotted a nerf gun in the home of one of their students. The incident happened in Edgewater, New Jersey. After seeing the gun, the teacher locked the boy out of the Zoom meeting and notified police, who later showed up at the young boy’s home to investigate. It turned out it was a nerf gun in view of the camera at the child’s home.”

Unfortunately, this kind of overreach is becoming the “norm.” From a “Truth About Guns” article we can learn about a similar incident happening in Colorado:

“On August 27th, Isaiah Elliott briefly moved a neon green and black toy handgun with an orange tip during an online class. Isaiah was reported for the apparent infraction, and then suspended from his school for five days. The school vice principal called school resource officers from the sheriff’s office to conduct a welfare check, but Isaiah’s parents were not notified that the police were being called until they were on their way.”

And another event reported by Black Wire Media:

“… with a 11 year old 5th grader in Boy Scouts being the subject of a Police investigation for firearms in his bedroom! After ignorant school officials were made aware via a screen shot of a pegboard display of Nerf, BB, Airsoft and archery bow on a wall…The school Principal notified the school Safety Officer, and instead of calling the parents, a Cop was dispatched to the home and spent 20 minutes searching the bedroom for weapons and interviewing the boy and the mom, a Navy Vet with small arms training. No weapons were found, no charges filed, nothing illegal was taking place.”

Beyond this being just absurd, because we’re talking about toy guns that are clearly toy guns, The Supreme Court of The United States has ruled in the favor of students and free expression in the following cases: Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School District (1969), Bethel School District No. 403 v. Fraser (1986) and Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier (1988). This begs to question if the simple display of a toy gun, or anything for that matter, in a virtual classroom (YOUR HOME) in the background, falls under freedom of expression or some wacked out oppressive school rules that are being forced upon American families. Was the teacher afraid of being virtually shot through their computer with a foam dart?!?! We don’t have the full and complete details of the event, so comment is difficult, but the father of the boy, who wishes to remain anonymous (for obvious reasons), sums it up perfectly in his statement to northjersey.com:

"My son was on Zoom for class, he had his toy gun. That's not acceptable, naturally, but I'm taking issue with the teacher who didn't find out more about it. The teacher didn't do anything but called the police and escalated the situation."

New Jersey is no stranger to this kind of froth at the mouth knee-jerk reaction to anything “gun” related. Several incidents have been reported over the years involving the usurping of 1st and 2nd Amendment rights of students. Lacey, NJ seems to be a habitual offender, with the following headlines as proof:

I urge any readers to familiarize themselves with all of these incidents and make known any potential displeasure with their own school boards. Our kids are being swatted and suspended for being kids. Perhaps if the subject matter was more aligned with what the goose-stepping progressive polices of these overacting/overreaching administrations, and how they want our kids to think, everything would be just fine.

The 2nd Amendment has no friends in New Jersey’s leadership. At least, not the policy makers that keep inflicting harm on our Civil Rights. One can argue that New Jersey should be subject to RICO-type statutes, with the way they conspire with groups such as Mom’s Demand Action and Every Town for Gun “Safety”. The gross, ignorant, and misinformed Hoplophobia that is rampant in New Jersey needs to be addressed. These administrations are not just writing policy, they are dictating how we are supposed to think.

After all, what did Governor “Free Stuff/That’s Above My Pay Grade” Murphy have to say about the 2ndAmendment? “A safer society for my taste has fewer guns and not more guns,”…as he’s flanked by armed troopers….

Mandatory gun education ought to be taught in schools---starting with snowflake teachers being trained how to identify TOYS and DISREGARD THEM! At CNJFO we do our part. We educate kids that real guns aren't toys, they're TOOLS! It's time for our schools to educate our teachers!

SO YOU BOUGHT A GUN FOR SELF PROTECTION?  CNJFO's GUIDE TO THE "NOW WHAT?" QUESTIONS!

Attention new gun owners!

First of all, we here at CNJFO as well as the gun community at large welcome you whole heartedly to the world of firearms ownership.

Now, there's a few things we need to go over:

1) You need some sort of gun storage device whether a locker or a safe or an quick access box, whatever you do, do NOT assume your kids won't find your gun. Remember, you found your parents porn and alcohol... And no, a cigar box is not sufficient.

2) You need to learn the four rules of firearm safety, no matter what: Assume all guns are always loaded and check them to see if they are. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and your ready to shoot. Know your target and what lies beyond your target.

3) New guns should be cleaned before their first range trip. The factory oil on the gun is thicker and is designed to protect the firearm for long storage periods and isn't designed for parts sliding back and forth at high velocity. Many new owners are upset to find that their brand new gun is jamming only to figure out that a simple basic cleaning alleviates these issues.

4) Invest in training. You just spent a bunch of money on a gun that you may think you know how to use. Take another $200 and go take an 8 hour class, learn to be safER and more accurate through professional instruction.

5) Spend a few bucks extra on "splatter targets". They amplify the bullet impact allowing you to better see where you're hitting the target.

6) Practice, practice, practice. As with any manual skill, practice is necessary. Get to the range. Don't just put that gun in your nightstand safe. How do you know it actually works unless you've shot it? Learn how to manipulate your firearm!

7) Enjoy. Go to the range and enjoy the camaraderie that is the gun community. In no other hobby will someone hand you their several thousand dollar firearm and let you pop off a few rounds. And yes, it's polite to offer them some ammo for their kindness, but most won't take it. Again, Enjoy!

8) Preserve your gun rights. You worked hard jumping through all the hoops necessary for legal gun ownership. It took time, money and patience. You made the decision to buy & use a tool to DEFEND your family. It would be a shame to let anyone simply declare your RIGHTS no longer EXIST.

As we gear up for a Holiday Weekend, NJ NICS continues to be backlogged by an overwhelming number of "Instant" Background Check requests, but does that mean they will be working on Labor Day in an effort to reduce the log jam? Most certainly NOT.

While small business would recognize their commitment to their customers, and would "do what needs to get done" in order to satisfy, we humble peon tax payers are at the mercy of our elected masters who deign to allow us to exercise our rights after waiting the prescribed amount of time, plus more, and paying our prescribed fees, plus more, and then delay us even further, at their whim.

When will it end? Likely not until Der Commissar is removed from Der Trenton. Even then, the legislature will remain FIRMLY anti-self protection and pro-bail reform (read pro-criminal). There is no relief in the legislature, there is no relief in the courts, and there is no relief in voting for "someone different" because they all have the same stripes.

We certainly understand the feeling that the only hope left is for an exit from "what exit" to greener pastures, which today means anywhere with less taxes, which translates to something like 49 other states and 14 territories. However, CNJFO is in this for the long haul. Our rights were removed slowly, using a Deli analogy, like thin shaved Genoa Salami, we must therefore demand that they are returned like thick sliced Liverwurst! We are tired of having our Second Amendment rights being treated as Second Class. We demand Equality for ALL Civil Rights!
